Latvia Launches Debut Film Funding


    RIGA: The Latvian Film Centre has initiated a new tender to support young filmmakers' debut projects.

    A total of 186,142 EUR in grants will be split among animation projects (42,813 EUR), documentaries (33,506 EUR) and feature films (109,823 EUR). The National Film Centre sees the initiative's main goals to be the encouragement of the young auteurs as well as an investment in sustainable development of the domestic film industry.

    Another tender for projects in development was launched simultaneously. Development grants of 29,969 EUR will be distributed to animation projects, 23,454 EUR to documentaries and 76,876 EUR to feature films.

    The deadline for applications (for both projects) is 29 May 2014.
