The tender for support of new filmmakers' first films was announced in April 2014. A surprisingly large number of 17 project applications were submitted. This amount, according to the Film Centre's deputy director Uldis Dimisevskis, indicates vitality and creativity of the local industry as well as its focus on developing innovative ideas.

Dimisevskis said that 12 of the submitted projects were narrative films and only one animation project was submitted.

The total amount of the grants was 186,142 EUR.
