Cinema Admissions Increase in Latvia in 2015

    RIGA: Admissions in Latvia were over 2.4 m in 2015, approximately 2 % more than in 2014. Market share of European and domestic films decreased compared to 2014.

    The market share of American films was almost 75 % while European and domestic films had 18 % and 4.4% respectively.

    General box office was 11.2 m EUR in 2015, admissions were 2.4 m and 1.2 admissions per capita. The average ticket price in 2015 was 4.81 EUR. There were 16 cinemas in Latvia with 58 screens, including four multiplex cinemas. In 2014 general box office was 10.2 m EUR and attendance 2.3 m.

    Latvian top ten was dominated by US films, most of them screened in 3D, and is topped by Minions with 168,000 admissions followed by Fast & Furious 7 with 87,000 admissions and Hotel Transylvania 2 with 84,000 admissions. 3D film admissions have definitely increased taking at least 40 percent of the total market share.
