PRODUCTION: First Macedonian Animated Feature Gets Funding

SKOPJE: John Vardar vs. the Galaxy, Macedonia’s first animated feature film, has received funding from the Macedonian Film Agency and is lining up Bulgarian partners for a planned coproduction. The project was pitched at the recent Visegrad Animation Forum, which took place during the Anifilm festival the first week in May, where it received the Special Mention of the jury.

The film is a production of Lynx Animation Studios and directed by Goce Cvetanovski. Initial work on the film began in 2009, while the director was living and working in Paris. He returned to Macedonia and founded Lynx Animation Studios in 2015. The film is a 2D comedy space opera whose protagonists are anti-heroes.

The 1.7 M EUR film is supported by the Bulgarian Film Fund and Bulgarian TV..
