Malta film funding support announced

    Malta's new film fund has chosen four projects to receive 223,000 Euros in support.

    According to the Malta Independent, the productions receiving funding include one short film, Hamlet of Straight Street produced by Lighthouse Communications, and three documentaries: Dear Dom (Falkun Film Productions), The Simshar Tragedy (WE Productions), and Reefs for the Future (MPS Picture Box). The results were announced on March 17.

    The fund covers up to 50% of costs. The winning projects were chosen from a field of 15 applicants. Delores Cristina, minister for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport (which oversees the fund), said that requests for funding totaled 600,000 Euros.
