CANNES: Central European-based TV and distribution company SPI International (www.spiint.com) has signed a pan-European agreement with Samsung that includes the launch of SPI's Filmbox channel on Samsung Smart TV.

The first stage of the agreement will make 2,000 films in the SPI library and Filmbox TV programming available via streaming.

In the second phase, three more SPI channels - FightBox HD, FashionBox HD and DocuBox HD - will be made available across Europe.

FilmBox Live is available as a monthly subscription service and includes seven channels available in Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria and Spain from April 2012 with Czech Republic and Slovakia in July 2012.

Customers in Poland will also have access to two channels from the Kino Polska TV brand, devoted to promoting Polish cinematography, including films, TV series, music videos and original programming.

"We are committed to adding high quality video services to Samsung Smart TV throughout Europe and FilmBox Live is a fantastic addition to the platform," said Dan Saunders, Director of Content Services for Samsung Europe. "With SPI International's range of programming we have expanded the level of premium video on demand content available and are delighted to announce this partnership."

"Samsung Smart TV is the perfect environment to introduce the unique features and excellent content offered within the Filmbox Live platform," said Berk Uziyel, Director of New Media for SPI International.
