WARSAW: The first Polish documentary shot with the Red Epic camera, Touch of Angel (Dotknięcie anioła), a biopic about a Jewish family’s dramatic exodus from Poland, is in production. The film, based on Henryk Schoenker's memories, reveals a thrilling, unknown episode from Silesian history

Henryk, who was a young boy during the war, recalls his family story and claims that during WWII Jews had an untapped chance to leave Silesia legally.

"Touch of Angel is a story of great importance for international history," said the film’s producer, Małgorzata Walczak. "Thanks to MEDIA Development financial support, materials were found in several archives in Berlin, Yad Vashem and New York.

"The documentary is a Polish-German coproduction between Polish Television (www.tvp.pl), which also handles Polish distribution, and Zoyda Art Production from Poland and Germany’s Westdeutscher Rundfunk Koln. Touch of Angel received financial support from the Polish Film Institute (www.pisf.pl), Stiftung fur Deutsch-Polnische Zusammenarbeit (www.fwpn.org.pl) and the MEDIA Programme (www.ec.europa.ec). Touch of Angel's 165,000 EUR budget took five years to assemble.
