Traffic Department covers seven days in of the lives of Polish cops, one being framed for a murder he did not commit who will stop at nothing to solve the mystery before it's too late. Smarzowski created a rough and entertaining portrayal of police and the darker side of Warsaw. The cinematographer is Piotr Sobociński Jr. and the set is designed by Joanna Macha. The lead is played by Bartłomiej Topa, accompanied by Marcin Dorociński, Arkadiusz Jakubik, Eryk Lubos, Agata Kulesza, Julia Kijowska, Marian Dziędziel, Iza Kuna, Robert Wabich and Jacek Braciak.
Traffic is one of the most celebrated productions of the year, already awarded with five Polish Eagles, including best script and actor. Smarzowski is considered one of the most interesting contemporary local filmmakers with a penchant for the dark side - his previous dramas Rose and Evil House both were strong box office titles and were celebrated at the Polish Eagles and during past editions of the Gdynia FF.
Traffic was shot in early 2012, produced by Film It in co-production with Agora SA, Telekomunikacja Polską SA and Canal+ with the support of the Polish Film Institute. It premiered on 1 February with 176,732 tickets sold on opening weekend, with over 1 million viewers currently. The distributor is Next Film and the world sales are managed by FILM IT.
