“We find that Polish broadcasters have a broad offer of locally made films and series and we are not planning to introduce these titles in a large number into the Netflix offer. It doesn’t mean that there won’t be any Polish titles. It is possible, but the production needs to be interesting for markets outside of Poland“, said Joris Evers, Netflix Communications Director for Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Netflix launched in Poland with mixed reviews due to the lack of a Polish-language version, only 10% of the offer available with Polish subtitles and lack of Polish productions. After two months of activity on the Polish market, Netflix representatives visited Warsaw to check what the expectations of Polish users are.
“We are aware that our offer is not a mass product for Poles. We’ve just started to analyze the Polish market and we are trying to predict what chance of growth we have here. Our users can surely notice that the number of localized content available in our service is growing each week” said Evers.
Netflix has not yet revealed the number of Polish users who decided to register for a free one-month trial, apart from the fact that about 50% of them decided to continue with paid service after 30 days.
