By Krzysztof Kwiatkowski

The first film by Jerzy Skolimowski since the 30 Door Key made 17 years ago, Four Nights with Anna interweaves a story of fanatic love with the story of a rape that happened in the past.

A Polish-French co-production, the film was produced by Skopia Film (Poland) and Alma Films (France). The total budget was 8.4 million zlotys, with 2.5 million coming from the Polish Film Institute.

His film awards include the Berlin's Golden Bear, the Special Jury Award and Best Screenplay Award at the Cannes Film Festival, and the Grand Prix in Arnheim, which he won twice. He co-authored the screenplay for The Knife in the Water by Roman Polanski and Innocent Sorcerers by Andrzej Wajda, and often makes an appearance in movies as an actor, most recently in Eastern Promises by David Cronenberg.
