Hungarian director Bence Fliegauf will chair the jury, which also includes Bulgarian director and 2012 festival awardee Konstantin Bojanov, Croatian actress Marija Škaričić, Czech producer Jiři Konečný, and curator Rada Šešić.
The festival will award 33,500 EUR in prize money in the main competition.
A total of 132 film from 30 Central and East European countries will be presented, including eight world premieres, seven international premieres and 21 German premieres. The festival will present an homage to Hungarian New Wave director Miklós Jancsó, a symposium featuring the enfants terribles of Yugoslav cinema, and Gender Check!, focusing on stereotypes and gender relations in CEE film.
Festival director Gaby Babić said, “At the Berlinale, the broader public finally realized what has been going on for quite some time in the Eastern European film scene. For the 13th year, the goEast Competition is a central forum for the quality and diversity of cinematic art from this region.”
