Tulpan nominated for EFA debut prize

    Tulpan, a German/Swiss/Kazakh/Russian/Polish co-production with Poland's Filmcontract, is among the four films nominated for European Film Academy's "European Discovery" award.

    Directed by Sergey Dvortsevoy, Tulpan won the Un Certain Regard prize at Cannes and the East of the West competition at Karlovy Vary.

    Turkey also received a nod with Summer Book, written and directed by Seyfi Teoma. The remaining two nominated films are Hunger directed by Steve McQueen (UK) and Snow directed by Aida Begic (Bosnia and Herzegovina/Germany/France/Iran.

    The six member jury choosing the films included EFA board member and Warsaw film festival director Stefan Laudyn.

    The films will be voted on by the 1,800 members of EFA. and the the winner who will be announced at the 21st European Film Awards on December 6 in Copenhagen.
