TVP takes top Prix Europa award

    Poland and Romania took home top prizes from the Prix Europa Awards on October 25, while Estonia, Bulgaria, and Turkey all received Special Commendations.

    Best Television Fiction Programme of the Year 2008 went to TV Polska for Let's go to the Movies Tomorrow, while Best Television Documentary Programme of the Year 2008 went to Starcrest Media for the Romanian programme Testimony. Poland also won the Best Regional, Local or Low-Budget Television Documentary of the Year 2008 for Filmstudio Everest's Ada Gallery, with the award donated by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe. The awards were handed out at a ceremony in Berlin, with each awarded programme receiving 6,000 euros. The winners were chosen from 213 programmes nominated by the broadcasters.

    Prix Europa, which recognizes outstanding European TV and radio programmes in 12 categories, also announced the Hungarian public broadcaster MTV has joined the 25-member Prix Europa Alliance.
