Pan-Baltic TV channel discussions

By FNE Staff

Prime ministers from Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania meeting in Estonia held discussion on a potential pan-Baltic TV channel on November 21.

According to "Hello Estonia," the idea was put forward by Lithuania's acting prime minister, with the other two prime ministers apparently in agreement on the benefits of a joint channel. One topic still to be addressed is the language issue of a common channel, since the countries have substantially different languages. However, the common channel was viewed as having the potential to counterbalance the strong influence of Russian TV stations in the region.
