PRODUCTION: Yuma in Production

    The Polish/Czech coproduction Yuma, a drama set in the early 1990's directed by Piotr Mularuk, is scheduled to go into postproduction in May 2011. The Polish premiere is scheduled for 11 November 2011 in Poland and early 2012 in the Czech Republic.

    The 1.5 milion euro film received funding from the Polish Film Institute (PISF, www.pisf.pl) and the Czech film fund. Yuma is produced by Poland's Yeti Films www.yetifilms.com, Czech minority coproducer Evolution Films, www.evolutionfilms.cz, and Czech in-kind coproducers Avion (www.avion.net) and Bystrouska (www.bystrouska.cz).

    The film is shot in Polish and German, and filming took place in Poland, Germany, and Czech Republic. Postproduction will be completed in Prague.

    The film follows the story of a young Polish man caught in the chaos and moral anarchy following the fall of communism. Wanting to make something of himself, he unwittingly falls into a gangster life.
