TeliaSonera Reports Declining Revenues

    Swedish telecom group TeliaSonera reported a drop of 6% in revenues for the first quarter of 2011. The company has operations in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

    Overall revenues for the first quarter were SEK24.73 billion.

    Broadband and fixed line revenues in the group's Scandinavian and Baltic territories fell by 11% to SEK9.03 billion. However, pay TV subscribers in the region rose by 21% compared with the same period in 2010.

    In a statement, president and CEO Lars Nyberg said, "In the Baltic countries, we are still awaiting a recovery." He also noted that the company has expressed its interest in Polish company Polkomtel.

    TeliaSonera (www.teliasonera.com) has mobile, broadband, and fixed line operations in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

    TeliaSonera is listed on NASDAQ OMX Stockholm and the NASDAQ OMX Helsinki stock exchanges. On the Stockholm exchange, shares closed up 0.29%, at 48.83.
