The Other Family is the story of a family that consists of a drug-addicted mother Nina, her unemployed roommate Patrick and her seven-year-old son Hendrix. While Nina spends some time in rehab, Patrick decides to sell Hendrix to pay off huge debts, but the boy disappears.
Loza started his career directing successful
projects for TV. His full-length film debut was the comedy Atletico san pancho (Never Too Young to Dream, 2001). His
second feature was the drama Al
otro lado (The Other Side,
2004), three alternating stories about children who want to be reunited
with fathers who abandoned them. The film was selected for screening at over 80
festivals around the world, gaining 48 awards. His next film Paradas
continuas (2009) was a comedy about two teenagers and became one of the
best performing films at the national box office.
The film is produced by Matthias Ehrenberg from Río Negro Producciones (www.rionegro.com.mx) and Ricardo Kleinbaum. The budget of the film was $2.7 million and was financed by Río Negro Producciones, Barracuda Films and Anrojapi. Barracuda Films is an affiliate of Río Negro Producciones whose founders have wide experience in the production, distribution and promotion of movies on Latin America's most important markets.
