Nanau and his team of producers refused to have their film nominated in the Best Long Documentary category, in which most of the approximately 600 active film professionals voted for Acasă My Home.
Radu Jude’s Uppercase Print, which had 10 nominations, was awarded for production design and make-up & hair styling, while Dan Chișu’s drama 5 Minutes Too Late received all the acting awards: lead actor and actress, and supporting actor and actress.
Ivana Mladenovic’s sophomore feature Ivana the Terrible received the highest number of nominations (12), the same as Dorian Boguță’s debut feature Legacy. However, Ivana the Terrible left empty handed, while Legacy was awarded for script, original score and costumes.
At the gala, the Romanian Alliance of Film Producers (AFP) issued an appeal to the authorities, hoping that they will pay a debt of more than 35 m EUR to international productions shot in Romania since the cash rebate scheme was launched in the autumn of 2018.
Gopo Awards were organised by Romanian Film Promotion together with Asociația Film si Cultură Urbană (AFCU), with the support of the Romanian Film Centre, Dacin Sara and Babel Communications.
