Looking For A Mother /Se caută o mamă is produced by the Romanian company Artis Film (www.artisfilm.ro), with Moldova Film (www.moldovafilm.md) and Diametral-Film (www.diametralfilm.md) from Moldova.

Shooting took place in Moldova in August 2010, a one year delay from the original plans. The budget is 500,000 euro. The film received a grant of 180,000 euro (693,000 RON) from the Romanian National Centre for Cinema (www.cncinema.abt.ro). The co-producers are funding the remainder of the budget with services, the Romanian producer Cornelia Paloş told FNE. She said the editing is taking place in Moldova, and the sound mixing in Germany.

The script by Valeriu Ţurcanu and Pascal Ilie Virgil focuses on the dramatic story of Eastern Europe women who became victims of international sex trafficking. The main character is Păvălaş, a 9 year old boy whose mother escapes from a sex traffic network and returns to Moldova in order to take him from the orphanage.

The cast includes actors from Moldova -- Emergent Cazac, Ina Surdu, Rodica Oanta, Alina Turcanu -- and foreign actors including Canada's Michael Ironside (Top Gun, Total Recall), the Italy's Paolo Seganti (Tea With Mussolini, LA Confidential) and England's Vas Blackwood (Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels)
