PRODUCTION: Ileana in Development

    BUCHAREST: Eva Pervolovici is in development with her first feature, Ileana, the story of a young and innocent girl who decides to infiltrate the ghetto in order to save her boyfriend by leading the police to another drug smuggler. She is helped in her adventure by a local guy who falls in love with her.

    The film is produced by Marcian Lazăr and Strada Film (www.stradafilm.ro). The script, written by Monica Stan and Eva Pervolovici, received a development grant of 4,000 euro from the National Centre for Cinema (www.cncinema.abt.ro) and won the Manaki Brothers development award at the Manaki Film Festival (Macedonia) 2010. The project was also selected for the Balkan Fund script development at Thessaloniki 2010. Foreign co-producers are expected to join the project.

     

    The budget is 860,000 euro, Lazăr told FNE. The director plans to shoot the film in a ghetto in Bucharest in spring 2012. The local premiere is set for winter 2012.

    Pervolovici recently completed her MFA at Edinburgh. Her short films were awarded at international festivals.
