The classic is Peter Solan’s 1962 award-winning drama The Boxer and Death. Audiences looking for the latest work from Slovakia’s leading directors will find that in the omnibus film Slovakia 2.0., a film observation of the 20th anniversary of Slovak independence whose 10 directors include Juraj Herz, Martin Šulík, Peter Kerekes, Zuzana Liová, and Iveta Grófová,

Slovak humor is on view in First Slovak Horror, a pseudo-documentary about director Robert Slovak’s unsuccessful efforts to make the first Slovak horror film. A selection of Slovak films would not be complete without documentaries, which this year include The Edge – 4 Films about Marek Brezovský, a documentary about one of the country’s most talented contemporary composers. The documentary selections also includes the most popular documentary of the last 20 years, All My Children, on the topic of the Slovak Romany community, which was seen by over 23,000 viewers.

Art Film Fest also announced the names of two international film celebrities who will be honored at the festival. Claudia Cardinale will receive the Actor’s Mission Award, and Istvan Szabo will be presented with the Golden Camera Award. The awards will be presented on the opening and closing nights of the festival.
