    Dear colleagues and friends,

    Let us show you What's Slovak in Cannes this year!

    Father, a new feature project in production directed by Tereza Nvotová and produced by Veronika Paštéková of Danae Production, will be presented at Goes to Cannes within the Tallinn Black Nights collection.

    Wanda Adamík Hrycová will take part at Producers on the Move, a programme organized by the European Film Promotion with aim to boost international co-operation.

    Thanks to the support from ERIAC – European Roma Institute for Arts and Culture, a director-producer Vera Lacková will be part of Producers Network with her upcoming documentary Do Magic. Lacková will also be a guest at the panel titled Roma (in) Filmmaking as part of the impACT program.

    Market screenings schedule includes Ľubomír Slivka's documentary Andy Warhol: American Dream and animated features Diplodocus by Wojtek Wawszczyk and Living Large by Kristina Dufková. 

    Last but not least, we would like to invite you to experience Slovak Cinema at the CZECH & SLOVAK Pavilion #140 in the Village International at Marché du Film!     Diplodocus is a curious little dinosaur dreaming of a great adventure and finding friends. Unfortunately he lives in a boring prehistoric swamp. He would love to discover what is behind the muddy dam surrounding his home. But his overprotective parents won’t allow, as they have build the protective wall for a reason – they believe their son to be naive and irresponsible, and they constantly have to pull him out of trouble.

    Puberty hits 12-year-old Ben, and suddenly his weight becomes a problem for him and others. Bullied by kids, with divorced parents unsure how to help, even the school nurse is concerned. Despite his love for food and budding chef talent, Ben takes drastic action, opting for a diet. Perhaps it can change things and even win Klara’s heart, the girl of his dreams. In the end, Ben discovers that true importance lies not in appearance but in how one feels.

    Wanda Adamík Hrycová is the owner of Wandal Production and Alluvium Production, previously serving as CEO of the Media Pro Entertainment Group Slovakia from 2010-2012. She is currently developing Flight from Kabul, based on real events and to be directed by the Slovak-Afghani female director Sahraa Karimi, Jan Hrebejk’s historical drama Ice Down and Peter Bebjak TV series Three Banks of the Danube. A former President of the Slovak Film and Television Academy, Wanda’s other credits include Bebjak’s crime thriller The Line and Zuzana Marianková’s comedy Perfect Strangers.

     PRODUCERS NETWORK

    source: SFUVera Lacková, the director and producer at Media Voice, has been actively engaged in shedding light on current ethnic and political issues within the Roma community. Her debut film How I Became a Partisan explores the forgotten stories of Roma partisans, inspired by her great-grandfather, Ján Lacko. Lacková is currently gearing up for her next project Do Magic which she will present at the Marché du Film in Cannes as part of the Producers Network program. Supported by the European Roma Institute for Arts and Culture (ERIAC), Lacková's participation aims to build connections for future collaborations.

    Vera Lacková will join the Roma (in) Filmmaking panel discussion organized by ERIAC in Cannes on Thursday, May 16, at 14:00, at the Palais Stage to confront stereotypes in media portrayals and advocate for systemic change within the film industry.
