M-Appeal picks up Slovenian Girl

    M-Appeal has acquired world sales rights to Slovenian Girl directed by Damjan Kozole (Spare Parts).

    M-Appeal's sales manager Laura Inoka told FNE that they are negotiating distribution deals throughout all Europe, as well as North America, Australia and even some Asian territories.

    The film debuted at Portoroz when it opened in local distribution on October 1st and has stayed in the top 5 for four weeks. The cumulative box office to date is nearing 15,000, making it the most successful Slovenian film of the past 2 years.

    Slovenian Girl was produced by Danijel Hocevar and his production company Vertigo/Emotionfilm (www.emotionfilm.si), on a shoestring budget of less than 1,500,000 euros.

    While the film was largely overlooked at the Portoroz festival of Slovenian film (www.fsf.si)

    in early October, it has received numerous festival invitations and earned a best actress award for Nina Ivanisin at the recent Valencia film festival.
