Welcome to Film Spring Open Workshop – shooting films and AV projects festival

We open the Film Spring Open Workshop registration, which will take place in Krakow between 12-21.10.2021.

For the 16th time, we invite you to Film Spring Open Workshop. A film making festival!

FSO is a ten-day, practical audiovisual Workshop based on new technologies and tools.

It is a "laboratory of the audiovisual future" for young filmmakers and audiovisual creators, students who, under the tutelage of outstanding artists and technicians, participate in lectures and workshops, but above all develop and produce their own projects using the best audiovisual equipment available on the world market provided by our technological partners (60 companies and corporations).

The Workshop aims to combine AV art with the world of science to develop modern language solutions based on what the industry has to offer. We invite enthusiasts who, under the guidance of Masters, want to shoot joint audiovisual projects in interdisciplinary groups enriching their artistic and technical skills and learning new technologies.

"We try to be a step ahead thinking of the future of AV art and to be open for new language solutions using modern technology - equipment which is available to workshop participants thanks to 60 companies and corporations our partners. We combine filmmaking, computer games, the world of IT and programming, science, business and psychology." - says Sławomir Idziak, creator and artistic supervisor of the annual Film Spring Open Workshop.

    For whom?

Every year, about 350-400 filmmakers, students, graduates, representatives of all faculties and professions take part in the Workshop: producers, screenwriters, directors, cinematographers, composers, production designers, actors, editors, sound engineers, composers, VFX and SFX creators, animators, Youtubers, costume designers, make-up artists, technicians, film scholars, but also representatives of professions that have an impact on the future of the audiovisual industry: programmers, computer graphic designers, game developers, video bloggers, stereographers.

    Programme

During the Workshop participants, under the guidance of outstanding specialists in workshop groups dedicated to various branches of audiovisual art, develop their projects with the help of equipment worth 4 000 000 Euro delivered by our Technological Partners. We'll have groups for documentaries, commercials, interactive, animated films and projects dedicated to the Internet. There will be VR and AR, CGI and modern editing groups and many others. Participants can attend lectures and screenings of awarded films. They may consult their projects with prominent professionals. The main topic in 2021 will be:

"New technologies in modern, sustainable and ecological audiovisual production."

For the fourth time, thanks to the support of the Krakow Festival Office and the Krakow Film Commission, we'll invite experts and journalists for "Green Film Open" - panel discussion on green sustainable audiovisual production.

    Hackathon for Wawel Castle

Thanks to the financial support of the Malopolska Region, the Hackathon for Wawel will take place during our Workshop. The aim is to create proposals for interactive visual projects for the Wawel Royal Castle in Krakow.

For many years, we have been stimulating cooperation between the world of film and programmers. We want to invite IT specialists, programmers, computer graphic designers, VR and AR specialists, producers, sound engineers, actors and directors for the three-day Hackathon competition. New audiences will increasingly anticipate from creators and institutions new forms of interactive and visual narrative that bring together the world of programmers and artists.

    You are not alone!

AV projects are created through collective work, and the very fast developing technology requires constant further training. Therefore, a new feature of FSO Workshop 2021 will be the opportunity to continue training even after the.

We have created a place for consultation and building interdisciplinary creative teams, which often continue their cooperation after the Workshop.

You are not alone! At the FSO Workshop, you will find partners who will help you make your dreams come true.
