After being in the Foreign Language Oscar's Shortlist, Runner-Up for the Audience Award in Palm Springs and receiving ‘Crystal Simorghs' Special Jury Award at Fajr IFF Tehran in 2010, the award wining feature „The World is Big and Salvation Lurks around the Corner" received the Audience Award at the 21st International Film Festival at Valenciennes, France (http://www.festival-valenciennes.com).
Lead by the renowned director Christian Carion, the jury awarded with the Best Film prize Todd Solontz's „Life during Wartime". One more time the Bulgarian film became audience favourite and received its award.
The 21st edition of Valenciennes International Film Festival was held from 25 till 28 March in the Northern French city. „The World is Big and Salvation Lurks around the Corner" was in competition with six more titles, three of them French. This is the ninth Audience Award for the Bulgarian film from festivals held on four continents. The prize is just in time for the French release of the film in June - according to the local media "La Voix du Nord", quoted by BTA, in recent years all Audience Award winners from this festival attract a considerable audience.
"The World is Big" received also two awards at the International Festival of the European Film "Mamers en Mars" in Mamers, France (http://www.mamers-en-mars.com/). Stephan Komandarev's film won again the audience' appreciation and added to it the prize Graines d'images - Macao, awarded by representatives of independent cinemas of the region Sarthe and Orne and ensuring that the film will be screened in the 9 cinemas of the network Graines d'Images.
The International Festival of the European Film "Mamers en Mars" marked its 19th edition from 26th and 28th March in the tiny city of Mamers. It focuses on debut European short and full-length feature films. Prominent French directors such as François Ozon and Mathieu Kassovitz made their feature debuts there.
„The World is Big and Salvation Lurks around the Corner" had also a "world river premiere" during the Danube Music Festival on board of the Sofia ship which is now sailing up the Danube. The festival guests and participants' interest towards the screening was according to the expectations big and resulted in almost an hour long conversation with the producer Stefan Kitanov. One can also watch the film during long distance flights of the Austrian Airlines.
„The World is Big and Salvation Lurks around the Corner" has received 30 international prizes up to now and was in the "Oscar" shortlist for Foreign-language film. The film has achieved more then 25 sales and has been selected for participation at more than 60 international film festivals. In Bulgaria it is still in cinema release after 76 weeks, 52 weeks of which in Top 20.
