PRODUCTION: Lionsgate Shoots The Strangers Remake Trilogy in Slovakia

BRATISLAVA:  The first part of The Strangers, the new trilogy directed by Renny Harlin and produced by Lionsgate, has started production in Slovakia. Rastislav Kuril´s Frame film SK s.r.o. is servicing the production in Slovakia. The producers registered for the 33% cash rebate at the Slovak Audiovisual Fund in June 2022.


PRODUCTION: Serbian Director Marko Đorđević Shoots Sophomore Feature That’s It for Today

BELGRADE: Serbian director Marko Đorđević teamed up with his collaborators from his successful debut feature My Morning Laughter / Moj jutarnji smeh and he is currently shooting That’s It for Today / Za danas toliko. The filming of this 100% Serbian coproduction is expected to wrap by the end of September 2022.

RIGA: The historical drama In the Land That Sings / Zeme, kas dzied directed by Māris Martinsons has just wrapped the third stage of shooting in Latvia. The film is a Latvian/Estonian coproduction.


PRODUCTION: Serbian Actress/Director Mirjana Karanović Shoots Sophomore Feature

BELGRADE: The acclaimed Serbian actress Mirjana Karanović started shooting her sophomore feature as a director on 29 August 2022. Mother Mara / Majka Mara is a coproduction between Serbia, Luxembourg, Slovenia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Switzerland.


PRODUCTION: Kristina Grozeva and Peter Valchanov Shoot Bulgarian/Greek Triumph Starring Maria Bakalova

SOFIA: The award-winning Bulgarian directorial duo Kristina Grozeva and Petar Valchanov have started shooting their darkish tragicomedy Triumph, coproduced by Bulgaria’s Abraxas Film and Greece’s Graal Films. Oscar nominee Maria Bakalova was announced as the lead together with Julian Kostov.

PRAGUE: Czech director/producer Viktor Tauš is currently in production with his feature drama American Chick / Amerikanka, which is a Czech/Slovak/Swiss coproduction estimated for completion in 2023.


PRODUCTION: Bulgarian Director Georgi Djulgerov in Postproduction with Memoir of a Betrayal

SOFIA: The Veteran Bulgarian director Georgi Djulgerov is currently in postproduction with his period drama Memoir of a Betrayal, dedicated to the legendary 19th century anti-Ottoman revolutionary Georgi Benkovski. Known for his passionate interest in Bulgarian history and Zahari Stoyanov’s Memoirs of the Bulgarian Uprisings (1870–1876), Djulgerov focuses the narrative on some of the author’s key testimonies. The film is a local coproduction between the Bulgarian National Television and Borough Film.

PRAGUE: Czech director/producer Matěj Chlupáček is currently in postproduction with his mystery/detective feature film We Have Never Been Modern / Úsvit. The film is a Czech/Slovak coproduction inspired by the true stories of intersex people in the 1930s.


PRODUCTION: Adrian Voicu in Postproduction with Debut Feature Capturing Sami

BUCHAREST: Romanian director Adrian Voicu is currently in postproduction with his first feature film Capturing Sami / Captura, which is produced by Axel Film, the company behind Immaculate by Monica Stan and George Chiper-Lillemark, winner of the Best Debut Film Award in Venice 2021. The Bulgarian company Contrast Films is coproducing.


PRODUCTION: Goran Stanković and Vladimir Tagić Prep Serbian/Croatian/Bulgarian TV Drama Series Sabre

BELGRADE: The Serbian political drama series Sabre / Sablja, created and directed by Goran Stanković and Vladimir Tagić, is the first ever international coproduction to benefit from new TV drama fund launched by the Bulgarian National Film Center.


PRODUCTION: Polsat Preps Servant of the People Remake

WARSAW: Polish channel Polsat is in preparation with Sługa Narodu, a local remake after the Ukrainian series Servant of the People starring the Ukrainian then president to be, Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The series is directed by Maciej Bieliński.


PRODUCTION: Lithuanian Director Ignas Miškinis Shoots Coming-of-Age Drama Southern Chronicles

VILNIUS. Lithuanian director Ignas Miškinis is in production with his coming-of-age drama Southern Chronicles / Pietinia kronikas. The film is produced by Lukas Trimonis through IN SCRIPT with support from the Lithuanian Film Centre and the national broadcaster LRT.

BUCHAREST: Romanian director Vlad Petri is currently in postproduction with his long documentary Between Revolutions / Intre revolutii. This Romanian/Croatian coproduction is among the nine Central and Eastern European projects to be showcased at the Docu Talents from the East 2022 within the CineLink Industry Days on 15 August 2022.


PRODUCTION: Stevan Filipović in Production with Sequel to Next to Me Hit

BELGRADE: Serbian director Stevan Filipović is currently shooting his fourth feature film. Next to Us / Pored nas is a sequel to his high school hit Next to Me / Pored meneHypnopolis), which was awarded the International Programme Jury’s Folden Arena at the Pula Film Festival in 2015.


PRODUCTION: Patryk Vega in Postproduction with Autobiopic Invisible War

WARSAW: The latest autobiographical film written and directed by Patryk Vega, entitled Invisible War, will be released in Polish theatres on 30 September 2022, with Rafał Zawierucha in the lead. The film is currently in postproduction.
