TALLINN: Estonian filmmaker Janno Jürgens is currently in preparation with his feature No Me without You / Mind ei ole sinust eraldi, exploring the burden of guilt and the meaning of forgiveness. The film produced by Filmivabrik has been funded so far by the Estonian Film Fund.

BELGRADE: Kurak / Курак by Erke Dzhumakmatova and Emil Atageldiev is currently in postproduction as a joint project between Kyrgyzstan, Switzerland, the Netherlands, France, Serbia, Luxembourg and Italy. Sadly, Emil Atageldiev died in August 2024, six months after the filming was completed.

SKOPJE: Macedonian writer/director Georgi M. Unkovski, whose debut feature DJ Ahmet world-premiered in Sundance’s World Cinema Dramatic Competition 2025 where it won the Audience Award, is currently in preparation with the animated series Bukvozhder.

VILNIUS: Lithuanian director/writer/producer Arūnas Matelis is currently in production with his new long documentary G.H.1 / G.V.1, which he calls “a very, very challenging film”.

BUCHAREST: Romanian Palm d’Or winner Cristian Mungiu is preparing to shoot his new feature Fjord entirely in Norway as of March 2025. This Romanian/French/Norwegian/Danish/Finnish/Swedish drama starring Sebastian Stan and Renate Reinsve has already been acquired by GoodFellas.

SKOPJE: The acclaimed Macedonian director Teona Strugar Mitevska is currently in postproduction with her seventh feature film Mother / Majka, an international coproduction set to be released in 2026. The cast is led by the Swedish actress Noomi Rapace, and Kinology is handling the international sales.

BELGRADE: Young Serbian director Nemanja Ćeranić, known for his crime drama Loan Shark / Lihvar and biopic Sunday / Nedelja, is already shooting his fourth feature, Hand of Justice / Ruka pravde, co-directed by Nebojša Pajkić.

VILNIUS: Lithuanian director Dovile Gasiunaite is currently in postproduction with her feature film Danka, which is set to be released in 2025.

SOFIA: The prominent Bulgarian director Iglika Triffonova is currently in production with her feature Kalunyo. The film produced by the Bulgarian producer Rossitsa Valkanova and coproduced by the Dutch producer Petra Goedings and the Romanian producer Ada Solomon has already been acquired by Viena-based EastWest Filmdistribution GmbH.

BELGRADE: Young Serbian director Luka Mihailović has recently begun postproduction of his sophomore feature, the independent production The Claim. His debut feature Indigo Crystal had nearly 120,000 admissions in 2023 and landed seventh in the annual box office charts.

TALLINN: Estonian filmmaker Birgit Rosenberg is currently in production with her long documentary Totem / Tootem, an exploration of identity, politics, and memory. The film produced by herself through Estonia’s Door 2 Productions is set to be released in 2025.

BUDAPEST: The Hungarian/Canadian/German coproduction Fairyheart is currently in preproduction, as Anita Doron’s first long animated film received Eurimages coproduction support with the maximum allowable amount (500,000 EUR).

LJUBLJANA: Martin Turk is currently in production with his fourth feature film, the Slovenian/Italian/Croatian coproduction Washed and Buried / Čista in zakopana (working title). The script, co-written by Turk and Italian screenwriter Fabrizio Bozzetti, delves into themes of family, memory, and identity, blending elements of magical realism and family drama.

BELGRADE: Young Serbian director Momir Milošević (1989) is currently in production with Soap / Sapun. His sophomore feature, which he is also producing, is a horror film supported by Film Center Serbia.

BRATISLAVA: The acclaimed Slovak director Marko Škop is currently in production with his psychological drama Anna. His third feature film, which is a Slovak/Czech coproduction, tells the story of a 30-year-old neurologist, who lives in one apartment with her mother.

RIGA: Latvian director Krista Burāne is currently in postproduction with All the Birds Sing / Visi putni skaisti dzied, a musical documentary with animated elements. It aims to answer the question of what can be done to restore and balance in a world in which the relationship between nature and man has been disrupted.
