BELGRADE: The revered Serbian filmmaker Srđan Dragojević will start shooting his new project International Women’s Day / Osmi mart in August 2026. The film is made as a coproduction among Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Germany, Croatia, Montenegro, and North Macedonia, and it has already been acquired by Madrid-based Latido Films.

ZAGREB: Croatian animators and directors Kristijan Petrović and Renato Grgić are currently in preproduction with their 3D motion-capture long animated film Immortal / Besmrtnik. The project, which features an accompanying VR/interactive mode, has an estimated total budget of 2 m EUR.

TALLINN: The acclaimed Estonian TV Series The Traitor / Reetur has entered postproduction for its fourth and final season. Under the consistent and distinct creative direction of filmmaker Ove Musting, the final chapter of this landmark Baltic spy thriller is now being polished for its world premiere at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF) (6 – 22 November 2026).

NICOSIA: Cypriot director / screenwriter Aliki Danezi Knutsen is currently in postproduction with her feature film Eastern Mediterranean.

SOFIA: Bulgarian/Italian Cold directed by Ana Kitanova and produced by Stefan Kitanov is due to complete postproduction in August 2026. It is not only the first feature film directed by Ana Kitanova and written by Iliana Kitanova, but also the first feature film lensed by cinematographer Angel Balakchiyiski.

RIGA: Latvia’s capital city is a futuristic city in the psychological drama Strokes of Madness, a Belgian/Latvian/Dutch project which aims to take the viewer inside the mind of a teenager whose talent turns against him. Filming in Latvia will wrap at the end of June 2026.

BRATISLAVA: Slovak actor and director Marek Ťapák is currently in postproduction with his TV film Crying without Echo / Výkriky bez ozveny (working title), an adaptation of the eponymous short stories book by Slovak author Milo Urban.

ZAGREB: Croatian-born, Ireland-based visual artist Dragana Jurišić has entered postproduction with her debut long documentary The Last Balkan Cowboy / Posljednji balkanski kauboj.

BUDAPEST: Hungarian filmmaker Bálint Szentgyörgyi is set to make his debut in Hungarian theatres in 2027 with his debut feature, the thriller Only Child / Egyke.

BELGRADE: The acclaimed Serbian filmmaker Emir Kusturica has started shooting a new feature film, Čuružanka, on 10 June 2026. A solely Serbian production, the film is based on the novel The Last Term by the late Russian writer Valentin Rasputin (1937-2015).

SKOPJE: Macedonian director Marija Apchevska Petrovska has started shooting Spring Cleaning / Proletnochistenje in Skopje, a coproduction between North Macedonia, Greece, Slovenia, and Serbia.

BELGRADE: Serbian director Jelena Bajić Jočić is currently in production with her third feature film, House by the Sea / Kuća pored mora. This independently-produced spin-off of a popular melodrama TV show, inspired by the novels of Mirjana Bobić Mojsilović, is a coproduction between Serbia, Croatia, and Slovenia.

BUCHAREST: A crowdfunding campaign has been launched in Romania for the feature film Kid Hazard / Pericol, an adaptation of the eponymous children's bestseller by Romanian writer Raluca Poenaru. Producers Irina Enea and Adriana Bumbeș, and director Răzvan Marinescu are aiming for almost 1 m EUR: 250,000 EUR for preproduction, 550,000 EUR for shooting, and 150,000 EUR for postproduction.

BELGRADE: The production of the feature film The White Week / Bela sedmica is currently in progress. The third directorial feature for Serbian filmmaker Bojan Vuletić is an official coproduction among Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, and Montenegro, supported by the respective national film centres.

TALLINN: Estonian director Vallo Toomla is currently in production with his sci-fi drama Beatrice, a coproduction between Estonia, Lithuania and Italy planned to be released in Estonian cinemas in February 2028.

SKOPJE: Filming has begun in Skopje on Macedonian director Stojan Vujičić’s second feature, Snowman / Sneshko. The Macedonian/Croatian/Italian/Bulgarian/Albanian coproduction is a teenage coming-of-age drama with fantasy elements.
