BIAFF 2021 FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES ITS INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION SECTIONS LINE-UP – FEATURE, DOC AND SHORT FILMS
Festivals 08-09-2021BATUMI: Nine titles have been selected for the International Feature Films Competition of the Batumi International Art house Film Festival, running 18-24 September 2021.
RIGA: The 8th Riga IFF has announced the titles selected for the Feature Film Competition. The festival will take place in person and online from 14 to 24 October 2021.
VILNIUS: The 9th Baltic Pitching Forum (BPF) will take place in person 7-9 October 2021. Selected participants from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania will be joined by Swedish fellow participants, as Sweden is the guest country this year.
BELGRADE: More than 100 documentaries and VR/AR content will be presented at the 14th Beldocs International Documentary Film Festival, which will be held in Belgrade 9-16 September 2021. The festival will take place in person (indoor and outdoor), and most of the films will also be available online.
As many as nine Croatian animated films to screen in various programmes at Linoleum International Festival of Contemporary Animation & Media Art, held in Kiev, 1st – 5th September. In addition, Croatian animation artist Veljko Popović will be part of a three-member main programme jury.
Beldocs 2021: Full lineup revealed for Eastern Europe’s boutique documentary film festival
Festivals 06-09-2021The rich program of the 14th Beldocs International Documentary Film Festival, to be held 9-16 September in Belgrade, Serbia, consists of more than 100 documentaries and VR/AR content. After breaking the ice last fall as one of the first festivals to go back to public screenings after the COVID-19, Beldocs will once again screen selected films at several open-air locations, as well as returning to indoor screening rooms. The majority of films will also be available online through the beldocs.rs website.
BUCHAREST: Writer/director/actress Alina Grigore has entered postproduction with her sophomore feature Amid Waters / Între ape (working title). Her debut feature Blue Moon / Crai nou has been selected for the main competition of the San Sebastian FF, running 17-25 September 2021.
BUCHAREST: Belia by Egyptian director Eman Hussein received the award for best film at the 7th edition of the Bucharest International Dance Film Festival (1-5 September 2021), the only event in Romania dedicated to films about dance. This year the theme of the festival was Potential Worlds.
TIMIȘOARA: The Hungarian/Romanian coproduction As Far as I Know directed by Nandor Lörincz and Balint Nagy has been awarded Best Film at the 5th edition of the Central European Film Festival Timișoara.
The celebration of the Documentary Film begins! The Astra Film Festival starts on Sunday in Sibiu and will take place in open air, in cinemas and online, between September 5th-12th. The opening event, which will take place starting at 6pm, at The Lake Stage within the Astra Museum, will be presented by journalist Teodora Tompea. Tudor Chirilă will recommend the festival’s programme. The audience will have the opportunity to see for the first time the `Once you know` documentary, directed by Emmanuel Cappelle, whose conclusion (`Climate change will bring the world to collapse`) has every chance to change the viewers' views on the future of humanity. The evening will end with a concert by Martyn Jacques of The Tiger Lillies.
