BERLIN: FNE has teamed up with FIPRESCI critics attending the Berlin Film Festival to rate the films in the Main Competition, Perspectives and Forum giving the films 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 stars. 5 is the best and 1 is the worst. The ratings give an overview of critics opinions from a large number of countries and provide insights to what critics in many different countries think about the programme.
PRAGUE: Twelve animated projects including five series, four long films and three short films have been selected for the 7th CEE Animation Workshop, a year-long project development and producer skills advancement training programme organised by CEE Animation.
BUCHAREST: Sixteen filmmakers from countries including the Baltics, Romania and Poland have been selected for the 2025 edition of LIM (Less Is More).
STRASBOURG: The third round of the three-year Programme for Series Co-Production, initiated by the Council of Europe, home of Eurimages, has the application deadline set for 15 April 2025.
TALLINN: Tallinn will name four new trams after classic Estonian films. The first three names have been chosen by Tallinna Linnatransport (TLT) and the Estonian Film Institute, and for the last one a public vote has been launched.
CEE Animation Workshop, a year-long project development and producer skills advancement training programme, is excited to announce its selection for 2025. 12 projects and 27 participants from 10 European countries have been carefully selected from 38 applications from 21 countries.

RIGA: Gints Zilbalodis' Golden Globe-winner and Academy Award-nominee Flow has been seen in Latvia by over 300,000 people, a record for a total population of 1.85 m. Flow is now the most attended film in Latvian cinemas since the country regained its independence.
TALLINN: The Black Nights Film Festival and Industry@Tallinn & Baltic Event have launched Creative Gate, a platform designed to connect filmmakers with Estonia's vibrant film industry.
Regarding the cinema in Slovenia, we ended the last year on a high note. Two Slovenian films, both primarily for children and youth audiences, Vinci Vogue Anžlovar’s Tartini’s Key and Klemen Dvornik’s Block 5, got the Golden Reel distribution prize for passing the threshold of 25.000 sold tickets. Slovenia was listed as a desirable filming location in the 14th issue of makers magazine, with the highlight on the country’s diverse locations, 25% tax incentive and growing crew base. Lastly, the short film The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent directed by Nebojša Slijepčević and realized as an international co-production with Slovenia as a minority partner won the EFA Award was shortlisted for the 97th Academy Awards. In the beginning of the new year, its Academy Awards nomination was confirmed and it was also nominated for César award of the French Académie des Arts et Techniques du Cinéma.
