BUCHAREST: This year's 11th edition of anim'est International Animation Film Festival, the only local festival exclusively dedicated to animated films and one of the most popular film festivals in Bucharest, is focused on cats. anim'est takes place from 7 to 16 October 2016.

TALLINN: The 20th Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF), taking place in Tallinn and Tartu from 11 to 27 November 2016, will celebrate the growth of the only FIAPF-accredited (International Federation of Film Producers Associations) competitive non-specialised film festival in Northern Europe.

The association of the European Film Agency Directors (EFADs) would like to express its concerns about the recent proposal from the Council of the European Union to cut the 2017 budget of the Creative Europe programme and in particular the MEDIA sub-programme.

STRASBOURG: On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Lux Prize, the European Parliament organises a screening of Mustang by Deniz Gamze Ergüven at cinéma l'Odyssée in Strasbourg on 10 October 2016. The film will be screened simultaneously in 24 languages in the 28 countries of the EU.

TORUŃ: Eleven debut features will vie for the Golden Angel Award in the On Air main competition of the 14th Tofifest IFF 2016. The festival will run in Toruń from 15 to 23 October 2016.
