Emotion, extreme tension and pleasantly surprising attempts of young filmmakers to revive genre cinema are the main ingredients of this year's TIFF Official Competition (May 29 – June 7). 12 films will compete this year for the Transilvania Trophy – five are debut features and seven are made by second time directors – and they come from countries such as Argentina, Belgium, Bulgaria, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Iran, Iceland, Great Britain, Mexico, Spain and the USA.

In a truly European vote, 12-14-year-olds in 25 European cities have elected THE INVISIBLE BOY by Gabriele Salvatores (Italy) as the winner of the European Film Academy Young Audience Award 2015.

BRATISLAVA: Slovak director/producer Katarina Kerekesova is working on The Websters, a 13-part animated TV series about a family of spiders for children and parents.

ZAGREB: The Zagreb Film Festival has announced the open call for the My First Script workshop taking place during the Festival which takes place 14-22 November 2015.  

SOFIA: Award-winning Bulgarian director Konstantin Bojanov will go into production with his second film in July 2015, I Want to Be Like You, a Danish/UK/Belgian/Bulgarian coproduction which features an international cast that includes Klaus Maria Brandauer.
