The Film New Europe Association is main networking platform of professionals in the Central and Eastern Europe and Baltic region. The FNE Association board is made up of the heads of the most important film institutions in the region. The webportal Film New Europe with its FNE Daily newswire was chosen as the main tool to achieve the network’s objectives: FNE is the sharing of know how, visibility of regional cultural diversity and finally the voice of the region.  FNE is also a pan-European connection for the region and has partnerships and activities with the main pan-European film institutions based in Western Europe.

The Croatian Audiovisual Center (HAVC) announced the production grants for short fiction films, documentaries and experimental films, and also the project development and script development grants on 3 July 2014.

This year FNE and FIPRESCI have invited film critics attending the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival to rate the films in the Main Competition and the East of the West competition giving the films 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 stars. 5 is the best and 1 is the worst.

After celebrating, in the past three years, Israeli cinema, Romanians' century-long contribution to the glory of Hollywood and Germany, the fourth edition of MECEFF – THE CENTRAL EUOPEAN FILM FESTIVAL which will take place between August 31 and September 6, has as special guest a country whose cinema continues to surprise us and to bring forth great directors: Spain.
