BRUSSELS: Cinema groups from Poland (Helios), Serbia (Blitz CineStar), Czech Republic (CineStar) and Slovakia, are among the inaugural Giants of Exhibition: Europe listing, ranking the top 50 European cinema groups by screen count.

STRASBOURG: Quo vadis, Aida? by Jasmila Žbanić has been voted by the European public and the members of the European Parliament as the winner of the second LUX Audience Award. The announcement was made on 8 June 2022.

COTTBUS: The 24th edition of the East-West co-production market connecting cottbus (coco,  9-11 November 2022) is now accepting project submissions. The event will take place on-site with some features held online.

BUCHAREST: Romania has approved a 4% tax on streaming platforms' proceeds from unique transactions or subscription fees. The money will go to the Film Fund, which is managed by the Romanian Film Centre and which provides support for domestic film production. The Film Fund is not receiving any money from the state budget.

BUCHAREST: Chlow Okuno’s debut feature Watcher, which was shot in Bucharest with Romanian company Abis Studio providing services, has been in wide release in the USA since 3 June 2022 and it is set for a VOD release on 21 June 2022.

BUCHAREST: R.M.N. by acclaimed Romanian director/writer/producer Cristian Mungiu has been sold to over 40 countries including North America, where it will be released by IFC Films.
