BELGRADE: Belgrade-based Soul Food has acquired world sales rights for Dušan Kovačević’s latest feature Being Human Isn’t So Bad / Nije loše biti čovek ahead of its domestic premiere, scheduled for 7 December. The film is about to enter regular cinema distribution two days later. The local distributor is MCF Megacom Film.

BELGRADE: The 27th edition of the Auteur Film Festival – Festival autorskog filma in Belgrade kicks off on 26 November and runs through 3 December 2021. This year, it will present and screen more than 80 films divided into 11 segments, including two new ones: Ekoskop, containing films on ecological issues, and Raw, focusing on genre-wise arthouse feature films.

BELGRADE: The Switzerland-based company Lightdox has acquired Museum of the Revolution / Muzej revolucije, the long documentary debut of Serbian director Srđan Keča, ahead of its world premiere in the Luminous (programme focusing solely on world premiere films) segment of the ongoing edition of IDFA in Amsterdam. The film will be competing for the Best First Film Award. It is a Serbian/Croatian/Czech cooroduction.

BELGRADE: The virtual conference CGA BelGrade is scheduled for 18-19 November, with its theme centered around Metaversity, a concept that blends the power of collective wisdom and the world beyond digital.

BELGRADE: Six Serbian feature film projects will be presented at a coproduction market held in Paris 17 - 19 November 2021, organised by Film Center Serbia, the French Center for Film and Moving Images (CNC) and the French Institute in Serbia.

BELGRADE: Domestic films continues to be the major draw in the case of Serbian cinemas. The latest in a long series, the action thriller South Wind 2 – Speed Up / Južni vetar 2 – Ubrzanje directed by Miloš Avramović, topped the 4 - 7 November 2021 weekend chart by a landslide, with impressive 115,227 admissions with 53 prints, grossing 443,788 EUR / 52,206,320 RSD. The local distributor is Taramount Film and the film is a Serbian/Croatian coproduction.

BELGRADE: The Berlin-based distribution company Pluto Films has acquired sales rights for Srđan Dragojević’s latest feature Heavens Above / Nebesa. The film had its world premiere in the main international competition programme (Concorso internazionale) of the 2021 Locarno Film Festival. The feature will enter regular cinema distribution in Serbia on 18 November. The local distributor is MCF Megacom Film.

BELGRADE: The Serbian writer/director Vuk Ršumović is currently shooting his sophomore feature Dwelling Among Gods / Među bogovima, a coproduction between Serbia, Italy and Croatia. The script is based on a true event from 2015 and it is also a new reading of the ancient tragedy Antigone.

BELGRADE: The young Serbian director Luka Bursać is currently in production with his third feature film Videotheque / Videoteka, which has been supported by Film Center Serbia.

BELGRADE: The programme Days of Serbian Films / Dani domaćeg filma, an initiative of Film Center Serbia, done in partnership with DOK Srbija, local cinemas and cultural centres, will take place in 26 cities and towns across Serbia on 28-29 October 2021.
