Flow, whose release is planned for 2024, is currently in production in France and Belgium. The film is produced by Zilbalodis himself and Matīss Kaža through Dream Well Studio, in coproduction with Sacrebleu Productions (France) and Take Five (Belgium).
"We are currently at the busiest stage of production for Flow as the animation process has begun in France. We are glad to be working together with some of the finest 3D animators in Europe to bring Gints' vision to life, and we can already begin to see the film take shape. Charades has been interested in the project already from its conception, they have excellent experience working with sales of independent animation, so we are confident that Flow will find its audience worldwide in 2024," producer Matīss Kaža told FNE.
The project is funded by the National Film Centre of Latvia and it also received financing from France’s regional funds as well as the CNC in a programme targeted to support second and third films of independent filmmakers. It has also been granted 400,000 EUR by Eurimages. Radio Télévision Belge Francophone and the Belgian Tax Shelter are also among its supporters.
Flow tells the story of an independent cat, who has to look for shelter after his home was destroyed by a devastating flood.
