VILNIUS: Escaping Sunshine, a Danish-Lithuanian coproduction, has been selected to lead off the new Nordic crowdfunding platform Manymade. The campaign was launched on 8 May 2013.

The crowdfunding goal or 15,000 EUR, which must be raised in 40 days, will be used to film the trailer for the feature film about human trafficking. Location filming will take place in Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Germany and Denmark.

The film by Danish writer/director Allan van O.T. Anderson is produced by Rasa Miškinytė for Era Film and coproduced by Bullit Film of Denmark.

“We are crowd-funding to close the gap in our development funding,” Miškinytė told FNE. “The project already got development funding from Media, won the main prize as "Best Project" on the Baltic/Nordic co-production Market, Tallinn (the Baltic Event).”

The film’s dramatic story is based on true events that took place in 2011, when two teenage girls and best friends set off on a last summer holiday after graduation. Along the way one of the girls betrays the other, selling her off to human traffickers. Filming is scheduled for 2014, with cinema release planned for 2015.
