Eurimages supports Lithuanian-Latvian co-production

    The European Cinema Support Fund Eurimages has awarded €350,000 to a Lithuanian/Latvian co-production, the animated feature The Golden Horse.
    Co-producing companies are Vilanimos filmu studija, Lithuania, Rija Films (www.rijafilms.lv), Latvia, and Paul Thiltges Sarl (Production) (www.ptd.lu).

    The Golden Horse has also received €203,000 sponsorship from the Lithuanian Ministry of Culture Cinema Council.

    The script of The Golden Horse is based on a play by Latvian author Janis Rainis. The protagonist of a story Antins rides his golden steed to successfully scale the Glass Mountain on his third attempt to awaken the sleeping princess Saulcerite. The film focuses motifs of Lithuanian, Latvian and East European folklore.

    Film directors are Valentas Askinis and Signe Baumane. The Golden Horse premiere is set for 2010.
