U-Film helmer Jelena Novikova is in Berlin to talk business and present U-Film’s expanded capabilities after the company joined the U-Group at the beginning of this year. Novikova said: “U-Film incorporates the former Film Corporation and its 15 years of experience as well as its professional crews and underwater specialists.”
One of U-Film’s major advantages is its unique 2m EUR C-Explorer 5.8 submarine specially designed to carry out underwater filming operations. Konstantin Buslov's film The Divers (working title) starring Svetlana Khodchenkova and produced by Alexander Rodnyansky and Sergey Melkumov recently shot in Malta with U-Film providing services throughout the whole month of shooting last year.
„It’s not just about the equipment,” said Novikova, „U-Film has some of the most experienced specialists such as underwater Director of Photography Evgeny Tomashov who has more than ten years of experience as an underwater DOP.” Tomashov was responsible for capturing the beauty of the Maltese seascape during The Divers shoot.
U-Film also produces its own films and is interested in meeting partners and coproducers in Berlin.
