The festival also organises an international competition for documentaries and short films, an overview of the best animated films from CEE, a retrospective of the second half of the 1900s from two sides: the East and the West, Italian screenings, a showcase of works that tread the line between cinema and contemporary art, a showcase of films pitched at the When East Meets West meetings, as well as Eastweek Midpoint 1 workshop.
Born on the eve of the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Trieste Film Festival – now directed by Fabio Grosoli and Nicoletta Romeo – is the first and most important Italian event dedicated to Central and Eastern European cinema.
