WIESBADEN: Bosnian/Macedonian Silence of Reason by Kumjana Novakova received the Golden Lily for Best Film at the 24th goEast - Festival of Central and Eastern European Film, which was held in Wiesbaden 24 – 30 April 2024.

At the closing ceremony held at Caligari FilmBühne prizes valued at a total of 28,000 EUR were announced in the Main Competition, the RheinMain Short Film Competition and the East – West Talent Lab.

Sixteen titles including films by Mladen Đorđević and Tinatin Kajrishvili competed in the main competition. The festival screened 90 films and welcomed over 200 guests.

The symposium “The ‘Other’ Queers: Cinematic Images from the Periphery of Europe”, the exhibition “Political Textile” and a panel discussion addressing queer anti-war activism in Ukraine were among the highlights of the sidebar programme.

Hosted by DFF – Deutsches Filminstitut & Filmuseum, goEast - Festival of Central and Eastern European Film is one of the most internationally significant platforms for cinema from the CEE region.
