Moscow is becoming increasingly integrated into the mainstream of the European film industry with the newly minted Moscow Coproduction Forum an initiative of the Baltic Event and Moscow Business Square supported by MEDIA International.
Supported by EU MEDIA International. The event was designed to encourage coproductions between Russia, Ukraine, Baltic and Scandinavian countries. A delegation of 18 Baltic and Nordic film professionals attended the event together with their Russian counterparts. Four film projects were presented: Finnish directors Pekka Lehto's comedy Ordinary Capitalist and Peter Lindholm's thriller The White Reindeer, Estonia's Erna's Journey, directed by Valentin Kmik and produced by Reet Sockmann, and from Latvia director Boris Frumin's Siberian Triangle. Speakers included In attendance from Estonia were Marge Liiske head of the Estonian Film Foundation (www.efsa.ee) and Baltic Event (http://be.poff.ee)helmer Riina Sildos. Estonia played a key role in coordinating the event.
Another MEDIA International supported project making its debut at MIFF was the East European Film Alliance (EEFA) (http://eefa-eu.org) a four country training project for film professionals. In Moscow the project kicked off with a scriptwriting workshop over three days designed for 14 participants. However organiser Catalin Leescu said the event was so popular that a total of 21 participants showed up.
The EEFA training roadshow will continue with a coproduction workshop on 14-16 July in Yerevan followed by a workshop on the legal aspects of film production in Iasi Romania in October and finally a workshop on marketing and distribution in Tallinn in December.
