By

Love and Other Crimes, a Serbian-German-Austrian-Slovenian co-production directed by Stefan Arsenijevic, won the Audience Award at the fifth edition of the film festival Crossing Europe, which closed April 27 in Linz, Austria.

As a highlight of this year's festival, the €5,000 award also featured a drawing to win a trip for two to the Sofia Film Festival 2009 edition.

The festival, which brings together filmmakers from Central and Western Europe, showcased a Tribute to Lithuanian Documentaries, spotlighting directors Sharunas Bartas, Arunas Matelis, and Audrius Stonys.

Among the films that vied for this year's €10,000 competition prize were two Slovenian co-productions, Love and Other Crimes and I Am from Titov Veles, a Macedonian-French-Belgian-Slovenian (Vertigo producer Danijel Hocevar) co-production from director Teona Strugar Mitevska, the 2004 festival winner. Also seen in the competition section was Latvian omnibus entry Vogelfrei from directors Anna Viduleja, Gatis Smits, Janis Kalejs, and Janis Putnins, produced by Film Angels Studio. The winning film was French entry Charly.
