FNE at the Slovak Film Week: Johanna’s Mystery

BRATISLAVA: The Slovak/Czech coproduction Johanna’s Mystery/Johankino Tajomstvo by Juraj Nvota will screen at the Slovak Film Week, a showcase for domestic production organised by the Slovak Film and Television Academy from 11 to 17 April 2016.

The script of this fairy tale was penned by the screenwriters Zuzana Lišková and Magdaléna Glasnerová and follows Johanna as three fairy godmothers watch over her fate upon her birth. One gives her extraordinary attributes, the second one throws many obstacles on her path and the third advises her on how to find happiness despite everything. However, one of the fairy godmothers fails to perform her role.

Also involved in the story are a stubborn prince, a greedy uncle and a forgetful aunt but, above all, a lot of love which will help Johanna overcome almost all the obstacles.

The film was produced by Slovakia’s Alef Film & Media in coproduction with RTVS, UN Film, Filmpark production and Czech Television. It was supported by the Slovak Audiovisual Fund and the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic.

The film premiered in the Slovak Television on 25 December 2015 and scored 701,000 viewers.
