Region 08-11-2018COTTBUS: Before the pitching programmes at Karlovy Vary, Warsaw, Transylvania or Trieste, there was Connecting Cottbus, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Setting a goal of bringing together the industry in CEE, Connecting Cottbus is also sharing some of the most exciting news happening in the region, including film incentive plans in Poland, Romania and Cyprus, which are racing to top their (slightly) older competitors.
COTTUBS: Lithuania for the first time is represented by two projects at Connecting Cottbus, running 8 and 9 November 2018. The first is presented by IN SCRIPT's producer Lukas Trimonis and director Irma Puzauskaite, making her feature film debut with 9th Step.
COTTBUS: Producer Jan Kwiecinski of Akson Studio and director Piotr Domalewski are pitching the tragicomedy I Never Cry at the 20th edition of Connecting Cottbus, taking place 8-9 November 2018.
RIGA: Latvian Emerging Producer at the Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival, Lelde Pruse continues her collaboration with the award-winning director Karlis Lesins, who has completed shooting on his feature film debut The Despair.
COTTBUS: The Kazakh film Rejected / Otvergnutye directed by Zhanna Issabayeva makes its world premiere in the main competition of the 28th Cottbus Film Festival, running 6 – 11 November 2018.
PRAGUE: Just off a double win at the Jihlava IDFF for the German/Czech coproduction Boy of War directed by Cyprien Clément-Delmas and Igor Kosenko, and currently presenting the international premiere of the Czech/Latvian/Slovak coproduction My Unknown Soldier (Analog Vision with coproducers Baltic Pine Films (Latvia), Wandal Production (Slovakia), Slovak TV, Czech TV and the FAMU film school) by Anna Kryvenko at DOK Leipzig, Czech production company Analog Vision has embarked on an ambitious international slate of films.
JIHLAVA: The Belgian documentary Vacancy won the main award of the international competition Opus Bonum at the 22nd Jihlava IDFF, at the awards ceremony on 29 October 2018.
