PRAGUE: The Czech State Cinematography Fund's Office announced development grants to nine documentary projects in its June 2017 session. A total of 22 projects applied, which is the most projects to apply since 2015, and the budgets were also higher than in recent rounds.

PRAGUE: The Czech State Cinematography Fund's Council gave grants to three Czech majority feature-length animated films in its June 2017 session. The results were announced on 20 June.

PRAGUE: The State Cinematography Fund is granting 2,542,000 EUR / 67 m CZK to eight feature film projects with Czech majority participation to support their production. Most of the projects applied for support in previous stages. The council chose from 22 projects submitted by 22 production companies.

PRAGUE: One of the most productive Czech screenwriters, Petr Kolečko, is the author of the new summer comedy Bajkeři / Bikers, which started shooting at the end of May. The shooting will continue the whole month of June mostly at  locations in Telč and the so-called Czech Canada.

PRAGUE: Devil's Mistress (Lída Baarová) by Filip Renč has become the first Czech film to be added to the online film platform Netflix.

PRAGUE: Internationally acclaimed Czech animator Michaela Pavlátová is preparing a new feature length animated film titled My Sunny Maad.

PRAGUE: The Prague Film Fund, which was established in 2016 to support the positive presentation of the Czech capital abroad through film and television production, announced its first call on its new website http://praguefilmfund.eu/en/call-for-applications/. The call is open until 31 May 2017, with the total allocated amount of 340,651 EUR / 9m CZK.

PRAGUE: Pavla Janoušková Kubečková (born 1985), who represents the Czech Republic at European Film Promotions’s Producers on the Move, studied Journalism and Media Studies at the Charles University and Film Production at FAMU. In 2009 she co-founded the nutprodukce production company and became an independent producer.

PLZEN: The Czech/French coproduction We Are Never Alone / Nikdy nejsme sami directed by Petr Václav screened in competition at the 30th Finale Plzen.

PLZEN: Jan Nemec’s final film, the Czech/Slovak/French coproduction Wolf From the Royal Vineyard Street / Vlk z Královských Vinohrad, was screened in the Czech national competition at the 30th Finale Plzen.
