BRATISLAVA: Members of the Slovak Film and Television Academy (SFTA) have elected producer Wanda Adamík Hrycová as its president. She succeeds the outgoing SFTA president Martin Šulík.
BRATISLAVA: Director of Photography Martin Žiaran was awarded the main IGRIC prize for the cinematography of the feature film The Line / Čiara directed by Peter Bebjak. The ceremony of the 29th edition of annual national film prizes took place in Bratislava’s Malá scéna theatre on 27 September 2018.
KOSICE: Acclaimed Slovak director Martin Šulík’s feature The Interpreter / Tlmočník is screening in the Slovak Season section of Art Film Fest, running through 23 June 2019. This is his first feature fiction film after a long break following Gypsy / Cigán (produced by Titanic, In Film and coproduced by the Czech Television, RTVS) in 2011. The road movie stars Oscar-winning director Jiří Menzel and Toni Erdmann actor Peter Simonischek.
KOSICE: Juraj Lehotský’s first feature film Nina will screen in the Slovak Season section of the 26th Art Film Fest, which runs 15 – 23 June in the Eastern Slovak city of Kosice.
KOSICE: Tereza Nvotová’s documentary Mečiar / The Lust for Power will screen as part of the Slovak Season section at Art Film Fest, running 15 – 23 June 2018. This Slovak/Czech coproduction focuses on the life of Vladimír Mečiar, a key political figure in recent Slovak history.
PLZEŇ: Juraj Lehotský’s first feature film Nina will screen at the 31st edition of Finále Plzeň Film Festival. The most important Czech national film festival, presenting contemporary Czech and Slovak audiovisual production, will be held from 19 to 24 April 2018.
BRATISLAVA: The Line directed by Peter Bebjak won six awards, including best film and best directing at the Sun in a Net awards. This annual event organised by the Slovak Film and Television Academy (SFTA) was held on 6 April 2018 as part of the Slovak Film Week.
BRATISLAVA: The portmanteau film DOGG directed by Jonáš Karásek, Slávo Zrebný, Vilo Csino and Enrik Bistika will screen at the Slovak Film Week. The showcase for domestic production is organised by the Slovak Film and Television Academy and runs from 9 to15 April 2018.

Slovak/Czech Mini-series Rights Sold to Ben Affleck‘s and Matt Damon’s Pearl Street Film
Slovakia 30-03-2018BRATISLAVA: The rights to Peter Bebjak’s three-episode mini-series Justice / Spravedlnost were sold to the American production company Pearl Street Film owned by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. The series produced by Slovakia‘s DNA Production in coproduction with the Czech Television premiered on the Czech Television in 2017.
