Slovakia Slashes Minimum Spend Requirement for International Productions Applying for Incentive Scheme
Slovakia 24-07-2017BRATISLAVA: Slovak Audovisual Fund together with the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic decided to make major cuts to the requirements for minimum expenditure for international productions applying at the incentive scheme and also to launch a National Film Agency that will work with incoming foreign productions.
ŽILINA: Sore Eyes for Infinity by Finnish director Elli Vuorinen received the main award at the 10th Fest Anča International Animation Festival held from 29 June to 2 July 2017.
MOJMÍROVCE: Three Slovak projects were presented during this year's edition of international workshop platform dok.incubator in Mojmírovce. The workshop was held from 26 June to 1 July 2017.
TRENČIANSKE TEPLICE: Crystal Bear-winning Little Harbour / Piata loď directed by Iveta Grófová won the Best Film award of the freshly formed Park Film Fest. The festival was held from 23 to 26 June 2017 in the spa city of Trenčianske Teplice, which hosted Art Film Fest until last year.
KOŠICE: The Bulgarian/Greek coproduction Glory directed by Petar Valchanov and Kristina Grozeva won the Best Film award at the closing ceremony of the 25th edition of Art Film Fest on 24 June 2017.
BRATISLAVA: Slovak writer/director Jana Nemčeková is developing her debut feature film Made in Czechoslovakia as a Czech/Slovak coproduction.
BRATISLAVA: Slovak director/writer Marko Škop is in preproduction with the feature film Let There be Light / Nech je svetlo. Principal photography is planned for the beginning of 2018.
ŽILINA: The 10th International festival of animated films Fest Anča, based in Žilina, introduced a programme with three competitions including international competition of short and student films, international music video competition and international competition of films for children. The festival will be held 29 June to 2 July 2017.
KOŠICE: Twelve films will compete at Art Film Fest, which runs 16 to 24 June in the eastern Slovak city Košice.
BRATISLAVA: Slovakia’s European Film Promotion Producer on the Move Katarína Krnáčová is a graduate of Ex Oriente 2009 and EAVE 2015. She had worked on such films as Mátyás Prikler's short Thanks, Fine, which premiered at the Cinéfondation of Cannes IFF 2010, followed by the 2013 feature version of the film Fine, Thanks (MPhilms) as well as Mira Fornay's IFF Rotterdam 2013 award-winning My Dog Killer (MIRAFOX) and the omnibus film Slovakia 2.0 (MPhilms).
