SARAJEVO: Bulgaria’s award-winning Iglika Trifoniva (Letter to America, Investigation) is in postproduction with her Hague Tribunal fiction False Witness, an ambitious coproduction between Bulgaria’s Klass Film , Holland’s Phanta Vision and Sweden’s Filmlance.

SOFIA: Milko Lazarov, whose minimalist, almost dialogue-free low budget debut film Alienation became Bulgaria’s 2013 creative surprise, is developing Nanook produced by his company Red Carpet.

SOFIA: Martin Ivanov has been named as the new Minister of Culture in the caretaker government just appointed by the country’s President Rosen Plevneliev.

SOFIA: For the first time since its establishment in 1991 the Bulgarian National Film Center will support low budget feature films, with up to 200,000 EUR per project. The application deadline is 18 August 2014 and the results will be announced on 29 September 29.

SOFIA: Producers/directors Mina Mileva and Vesela Kazakova from Activist 38 have accused the Union of the Bulgarian Film Makers - Film Academy (consisting of over 900 members) and the Bulgarian Society for collective management of authors` and producers` rights in audiovisual works Filmautor of organizing deliberate actions against their controversial documentary “Uncle Tony, Three Fools and the Secret Service”.

SOFIA: Maya Vitkova will represent Bulgaria at European Film Promotion’s Producers on the Move in Cannes.

SOFIA: The Bulgarian Association of Communication Agencies reported that in 2013 the country’s advertising market amounted to 303 m BGN, a decrease of 0.62%, and has a possibility of 2% growth in 2014.
