    Main Competition Sections

    Opus Bonum selects remarkable films representing the tendencies in world documentary. The jury comprises a single juror who picks up the most brilliant work (the winning film of 2011 was Lost Land).

    Between the Seas is a competition section representing the countries and nations of Central and Eastern Europe. It presents documentary thinking in the historical, political and cultural context of these countries (the winning film of 2011 was Bakhmaro).

    Czech Joy is a prestigious selection of Czech documentaries. Rather than a mere competition for the best Czech film, it is a celebration of diversity in Czech cinematography. The jury comprises various personalities of Czech cultural and social life, a citizen of Jihlava and the winner of the past edition of Czech Joy (the winning film of 2011 was Solar Eclipse).

    Experimental Competition Section

    Fascinations – the competition display of experimental films annually presents unique approaches to the representation of reality. The jury traditionally comprises members of a family active in the field of film (the winning film of 2011 was Endeavour).

    On the Border of Documentary

    Doc-Fi expresses the conviction that the border between documentary and fiction film is permeable.

    Reality-Tv opens up new television formats and introduces current forms of cross-genres such as docudrama, docusoap, reality show and mockumentary on a large global scale.

    Translucent Beings

    Translucent Beings introduce film works by leading directors who have left a remarkable signature style in the history of cinematography.
